How Does the Trimble Grade Control System Work?

Machine control systems for excavators are durable and easy to install, making them ideal for contractors and landscapers who want to save as many hours and resources as possible. These systems help you easily view crucial data, build accurate project designs, and monitor machine positioning so you can succeed the first time, every time.

Included with these Trimble 2D and 3D solutions are sensors that allow you to locate the precise positioning of your excavator. This increases digging accuracy and lowers safety risks. The 3D systems come with angle sensors and GNSS receivers, while 2D systems offer measurements using angle sensors, laser receivers, and dual access sensors. By taking advantage of these features and capabilities, you can easily determine where your excavator components are in comparison to the assigned slope or nearby excavation spot.

3D Grade Control for Excavators

  • Highway Construction
  • Mass Excavation
  • Land reclamation
  • Dam and reservoir construction
  • New infrastructure projects
  • Landfills and waste deposits

  • Single GNSS: Measures the position of the bucket and compares that to design data for rough grading and mass excavation on complex design surfaces
  • Dual GNSS: Measures the exact position and heading of the bucket for rough grading and mass excavation on steep slopes and complex design surfaces
  • Universal Total Station (UTS): Total station based system for extreme accuracy for lift and layer control, material monitoring, or where GNSS is not the ideal solution because of overhead obstructions

2D Grade Control for Excavators

  • Residential and commercial sites
  • Road construction
  • Trenches
  • Ditches
  • Finished slope work
  • Dredging and waterways
  • Digging footers and basements

  • Depth, Slope and Elevation Control: Highly flexible system for excavation, trenching, grading and profile work
  • Depth and Slope with Bench Reference: Simply enter the desired depth and slope, or bench using your bucket. The system will provide guidance to a depth or slope based on distance from a known point or "bench" on the ground.
  • Laser Reference: A rotating grade laser provides a reference plane across the job site.
  • Laser Reference with Heading: The excavator can be rotated without the need to re-enter the desired depth and slope to maintain consistent accuracy.
  • Depth and Slope with GNSS: Keep the easy to use Depth and Slope or Bench and Go workflows, and leverage GNSS to move around the site without having to use touch points or laser reference to carry your elevation. Rotate and maintain constant slopes as the GNSS also provides heading.

What Are the Benefits?

While excavators are powerful tools commonly used in grading, forestry, construction, mining, and trenching applications, helping these machines reach their full potential can be challenging. Our excavator grade control systems for sale eliminate many of the uncertainties and risks surrounding earthwork applications so you can protect job integrity and safety.

Benefits of working with one of our Trimble grade control systems include:

  • Improved finances: You’ll cut down on expenses and raise profits by decreasing downtime and hassles with grade control visual displays, automated machine controls, and real-time monitoring capabilities.
  • Higher excavation productivity: Reducing labor and increasing efficiency means greater project productivity and more effective schedules for your company. Having more productive machinery and employees will help build your reputation and bring in more business.
  • Access to our full range of services: If you need training, preventive maintenance, or repairs for your excavator grade control system, we offer a full range of services for Arizona and Southeast California companies.
  • More scalability: Because we know how important it is to have the latest construction technology, we provide scalable grade control solutions and product upgrades for partners who are ready to expand their business reach.
